American Center Library to Open Huge Movie Archive to Zambian Public

On April 2, 2008, the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy opened its huge film archive to patrons of the Martin Luther King Jr. Library.  U.S. Ambassador Carmen Martinez officially introduced the film collection and a set of personal DVD players, as part of the library’s continuing attempt to connect Zambians with the best aspects of American culture.  Library patrons will be able to use the newly acquired portable DVD players and the rich archive of new and old American films at their leisure during library hours.  The film collection includes hundreds of award-winning feature films, documentaries, educational films and TV series.    The addition of the portable DVD players and opening of the film archive is just one of the features of the MLK Library, which also offers access to information in many different media and forms: books, online, and audiovisual.   Membership at the American Information Resource Center and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library is free.  The library is located at the COMESA Building in downtown Lusaka.  For more information call        227-993/4.
