All U.S. Visa Applications go Electronic on November 5, 2007; system allows for same-day visa services

October 31, 2007. Lusaka

The U.S. Embassy in Lusaka has introduced an internet site to facilitate on-line visa appointments.  From November 5, 2007, all U.S. visa applicants must use the electronic system. The website allows applicants to schedule their own visa appointment on a convenient date, up to three months in advance.  Once an appointment is scheduled, the applicant simply prints a confirmation sheet, which contains all of the appointment information.

With the introduction of this system, the U.S. Embassy’s Consular Section can provide same-day visa application service.  Applicants will appear at the embassy, submit their paperwork, pay the visa fee and be interviewed on the same day.  Approved visas will be available at 1500 hours that same day as well, eliminating multiple trips to the Embassy. The Consular Section expects the new system will make the application procedure faster and easier for Zambians.

The website is available for public use, at:  https://evisaforms.state.gov/default.asp?postcode=LUS&appcode=3

Further information about the visa process is available on the Embassy’s home page at http://zambia.usembassy.gov. For more information, you may e-mail the Consular Section at: ConsularLusaka@state.gov. You may also call during Public Inquiry hours, Mondays through Thursdays, 1400 to 1600 hours at (260)(1)250-955.
