Filing the (I-130) Petitions:
For Spouses, Minor Children and Parents of United States Citizen

American citizens who are resident in Zambia, U.S. service members, emergency cases involving life and death or health and safety considerations, and others determined to be in the national interest can file an I-130 petition with the Embassy in Lusaka.  The petitioner must be resident in Zambia in order for the Embassy to accept your petition.  However, U.S. citizens whose principal residence is not in the consular district, and/or have entered the consular district as a temporary visitor/student/or with limited leave to enter and remain must file the petition with the appropriate USCIS service center in the United States.  American citizens who are unsure whether their case meets these criteria should contact the consular section during public inquiry hours.

Complete instructions for completing the I-130 can be found on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website.
