U.S. Government Donates Computers to Teacher Training Colleges

Lusaka
October 13, 2005

The United States government on Thursday, October 13, provided 52 computers and software valued at 500 Million Kwacha to five Ministry of Education-supported teacher training colleges in Luapula, Copperbelt, Lusaka, and Southern Provinces. The information and communication technology will enable future teachers to learn how to access resources online and will strengthen teaching capabilities. United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director James Bednar and Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary Ms. Lillian Kapulu presided over the ceremony at the ZAMISE Teacher’s Training College in Lusaka.

The computer and software donation is part of a broader collaboration between USAID and the Ministry of Education aimed at improving children's access to schools, assisting the ministry in collecting and managing information, and supporting school health initiatives.
