The President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief

The President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (the "Emergency Plan") is the largest commitment ever by a single nation toward an international health initiative. The Emergency Plan is a 5-year, $15 billion comprehensive approach to mitigating HIV/AIDS worlwide. Over half of these funds are dedicated to fifteen Emergency Plan focus countries.

As one of the focus countries, Zambia is benefiting from the rapid national expansion of HIV/AIDS care, prevention, and treatment services. In 2004, Zambia received $57.9 million to continue expanding HIV/AIDS programs. In 2005, Zambia will receive $84.7 million in Emergency Plan funds for care, prevention, and treatment programs.
